You’re invited to our FTC Open House at Pacific Crest Middle School on Saturday, May 31st, from noon to 3—a hands-on look at how middle and high school students are designing, coding, and competing with robots through FIRST Tech Challenge.
You’ll meet the students behind the bots, learn how schools like yours are launching teams, and take home everything you need to evaluate starting your own.
Most importantly, we’ll walk through how new teams can still access startup funding through ORTOP’s STEM grant—which is sunsetting this season. This opportunity is limited, but powerful.

FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for high schoolers who are ready to take on more advanced robotics challenges. Using sophisticated, reusable kits, teams design, build, and program robots to compete in head-to-head challenges. This program focuses on advanced engineering and programming skills, encouraging participants to develop innovative solutions and preparing them for future academic and career pursuits in STEM fields.
These events are a wonderful opportunity to engage with and inspire high school age students as they showcase their STEM robot-building and programming skills.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers for a number of positions including judges and referees.
Judges: Evaluate team projects and presentations, providing essential feedback and encouragement.
Referees: Manage the gameplay, ensuring that competition rules are followed and accurately scoring the matches.
No prior experience with robotics is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
